THE PURPOSE

Pro road races, criteriums, 심지어 time trials에서도 disc-brake bikes가 우승하는 빈도가 높아지는 것을 본다. 이미 그러한 변화는 시작되었고 자신의 것으로 활용하기 위해 버킷 리스트에 aero wheelset을 넣어두었을 것이다. Hunt 50 Carbon Disc는 그러한 요구에 답을 제공하는 휠셋이다.

FEATURES

HUBS - 새로 개발한 H_Ratchet 36T SGL hub가 적용되어 빠른 10도의 체결각도, 신뢰성높고 손쉽게 수리가 가능한 내구성이 좋은 싱글 사이드 ratchet drive system입니다. 확장된 체결 면적으로 파워 전달과 허브 수명연장이 가능해졌으며 기존 pawl system보다 적은 부품을 사용하여 가벼우면서도 강한 허브 시스템입니다. 1X 구동계의 높아진 토크를 감당할 수 있도록 디자인되고 테스트되어 개발되었습니다. 

RIMS - unidirectional T24/30 carbon fibre와 3K weave로 강화된 spoke holes을 특징으로 하는 강한 초경량 림으로 27mm 광폭으로 뛰어난 핸들링과 스피드를 발휘하며 disc brake에 특화된 구조로 유사한 rim-brake rim들에 비해 많은 감량을 이루었다. 림에 가해지는 브레이킹이 없어짐으로해서 강하면서도 매우 가벼운 림을 디자인할 수 있게 되어 림의 본연의 역할인 타이어와 스포크 압력을 지지하는데 더욱 집중하여 개발된 림이다. 

RIM SURFACE - V:Absorbe resin을 사용하여 진동을 줄이고 충격 저항성도 상당히 향상시킬 수 있었다. Disc brake rim은 장시간의 rim braking으로 발생하는 고열를 신경쓸 필요가 없기에 보다 낮은 온도에서 구워진 cabon layering과 새로운 V:Absorbe resin을 결합하여 가공할 수 있었다. 보다 낮은 온도에서 가공된 resin은 부서지는 성격이 덜하며 이는 충격 저항성의 향상과 진동 흡수력을 향상으로 이어진다. 

RIM BED - H-Lock이라는 Hunt의 tubeless-ready rim bed profile이 적용되어 튜브리스 타이어의 첫 장착과 밀봉이 더 쉽고 H-Lock profile은 한번 타이어 비드가 장착되면 더 확실하게 자리를 잡게 해주는데 이는 오프로드에서 보다 낮은 공기압으로 달릴 때 도움이 되는 특성이다. 

BEARINGS - 휠의 심장이라고 할 수 있는 베어링은 그만큼 많은 투자를 할 가치가 있는 부품이다. 일본의 베어링 전문 제조업체인 EZO에서 만든 high-grade precision smooth-rolling sealed cartridge bearing이 사용되며 3개의 rear hub bearing의 내부 베어링 면을 S&S low-friction LU/LB seals을 적용하여 구름 저항성을 낮추었고 동시에 베어링 외부면은 탁월한 밀봉을 유지하도록 하였다. 

FREEHUB BODY - 휠셋의 수리 비용 발생을 막고자 하는 Hunt의 의지는 내구성을 중요시하게 되어 Hunt freehub bodies는 Steel Spline 삽입으로 강화시켜 일반 적으로 자주 보게되는 cassette sprocket damage가 발생하는 것을 최소화해준다.  

SPOKES - 최고급 Pillar Spoke Re-enforcement PSR XTRA models로서 butted blade aero spokes로 더 가벼우면서 스포크 텐션을 더 오래 유지시켜주며 피로도 저항성도 높도록 더 높은 탄성을 지닌 스포크이다. PSR spokes는 스토레스가 높은 부위인 헤드를 2.2mm 폭으로 더 강화하였고 nipples은 6각 헤드로 보다 정밀한 텐션 조정이 가능하다. 

ADAPTABILITY - 향후 사양 변경에 대응할 수 있도록 개발되는 Hunt disc wheels은 현존하는 모든 axle standard를 대응하며 (단, 본 휠의 경우 15mm front road TA standard는 지원하지 않음) Shimano hydraulic brakes가 더 많이 채택되면서 centre-lock hubs를 기본으로 6 bolt adaptors를 기본 제공하고 있다. 

TIRES - HUNT는 튜브리스 타이어의 이점인 puncture resistance와 better grip를 제공하기 위해서 모든 휠셋을 tubeless ready로 제공한다. Tubeless Ready 디자인은 튜브리스 타이어뿐 아니라 클린처 타이어와 튜브 장착도 가능하다.

FEATURES

HUBS - H_Ratchet 36T SGL hubs, offering a rapid 10-degree engagement angle, in a reliable, easy-to-service and long-lasting single-sided ratchet drive system. Increased engagement surface area improves power transfer and longevity of the hubs, while using less material compared to a spring-and-pawl system, resulting in a light but robust hub system designed and tested to cope with the increased torque of 1x drivetrains.

RIMS - A strong and super-lightweight rim featuring unidirectional T24/30 carbon fibre with 3K weave re-enforced spoke holes. The wide aero profile delivers excellent handling and speed. The evolution of disc brake specific construction has allowed massive weight savings over equivalent rim-brake rims. The removal of braking forces on the rim allows a strong but very light rim to be designed that can focus on it's primary roles of supporting the tyre and spoke forces.

RIM SURFACE - V:Absorbe resin reduces vibration and massively improves impact resistance. Disc brake rims are obviously not required to handle the high temperatures induced by prolonged rim braking. We have made the most of this and used our new V:Absorbe resin blends in the carbon layering which cures at a lower temperature. Lower temperature resins are less brittle meaning they have greater resistance to impacts and dampen vibration more effectively.

RIM BED - H-Lock is our tubeless-ready rim bed profile with up-kicks to the shoulders of the tubeless steps which help to create a great rim-well seal for first installation and easy sealing of tubeless tyres. The H-Lock profile also locks the beads in place more securely once seated. This is especially important when running lower pressures off road.

BEARINGS - The heart of any wheel. Investing in them makes huge sense. We use high-grade precision smooth-rolling sealed cartridge bearings by Japanese experts EZO. This wheelset has three of the rear hub bearings upgraded to S&S low-friction LU/LB seals on the internal bearing face to further reduce rolling resistance whilst maintaining excellent sealing on the exposed faces.

FREEHUB BODY - Featuring 3 multi-point pawls with 3 teeth each and a 48t ratchet ring. The result an impressively low 7.5 deg engagement angle. Durability is a theme for Hunt as time and money you spend fixing is time and money you cannot spend riding or upgrading your bikes. As a result all our freehub bodies have Steel Spline Insert re-enforcements to provide excellent durability against cassette sprocket damage often seen on standard alloy freehub bodies.

SPOKES - We chose the top-of-the-range Pillar Spoke Re-enforcement PSR XTRA models. These butted blade aero spokes are lighter but also provide a greater degree of elasticity to maintain tensions longer and add fatigue resistance. PSR spokes feature the 2.2 width at the spoke head providing more material in this high stress area. The nipples come with a hex head so you can achieve precise tensioning. Combining these components well is key which is why all Hunt wheels are hand-built.

ADAPTABILITY - Our wheels are seriously future-proof. We can adapt your wheels to any current axle standard, you just need to let us know what you require by filling in the simple form on the confirmation page after checkout. Please note these wheels will not work with the older 15mm front road TA standard.. As Shimano hydraulic brakes are appearing on many new bikes, we wanted riders to have the option so we went even more adaptable with centre-lock hubs and 6 bolt adaptors included.

TIRES - At HUNT we enjoy the puncture resistance and grip benefits of tubeless on our every-day rides so we wanted to allow you the same option, but of course these tubeless-ready wheels are also designed to work perfectly inner tubes, just use tubes in tubeless ready tires.
