THE PURPPOSE

Hunt Aerodynamicist Range 휠셋 시리즈는 온전히 스피드를 위해서 재개발된 모델로 확장된 CFD 테스트와 풍동실험 테스트를 통해 자체적으로 개발된 신규 림 프로화일들을 얻어냈다. 매순간의 성능적 이점을 추구하는 라이더들을 위해서 34mm 림높이는 초경량을 실현하면서 효율적인 공기역학성능으로 소모되는 와트(watts)를 줄여준다. Aero wing spokes는 바람을 잘 가르면서 동시에 탁월한 내구성과 수리 편의성을 제공하며 9도의 매우 빠른 체격각도를 가진 H_Ratchet 40T DBL hub에 수작업으로 체결된다. Enduro™ ABEC 5 chromium steel bearing을 적용하여 탁월한 내구성과 부드러운 구름성을 제공하면서 보다 빨리 보다 멀리 달리게 해준다. 모든 디테일이 세밀하게 튜닝되어 최상의 성능을 발휘하는 시리즈라고 할 수 있다.  

TECHNOLOGY

HUNT 34_34 Aerodynamicist UD Carbon Spoke Disc Wheel은 강성을 유지하고 산악구간에서 탁월한 성능을 발휘할 수 있도록 초경량의 공기역학적인 카본 림 형상을 가진고 있다. 연구개발 백서에서 투명하게 밝혔듯이 매우 인정받고 그랜드 투어 스테이지에서 우승한 Reserve 34I37 TA 휠셋보다 0.18 watts 공기역학 성능이 우수하면서도 217그램 더 가볍다. 풍동실험 데이타를 보면 Shimano Dura-Ace C36 휠셋이 테스트했던 다른 모든 휠셋보다 0.54-watt 우수했지만 HUNT 34_34 Aerodynamicist가 303그램 (25.7%) 더 가볍다. 넓은 22mm 내부림폭으로 28mm 타이어 장착시 최적의 공기역학성능을 발휘하며 탁월한 승차감과 코너링 안정성을 제공한다. 이전 모델보다 더 높은 림을 적용했음에도 진보된 카본 적층 기술을 적용하여 전체 무게는 인상적인 1,175 그램을 실현하였다.

• Reliable, Rapid H_Ratchet Hub System - H_Ratchet 40T DBL (dual-sided ratchet system)은 빠르고 신뢰성높은 9도의 체격각도로 페달링에 보다 빠른 반응을 보여준다. 6066 aluminium alloy hub shell에 보다 강한 7075-T6 alloy axle 그리고 H_Ceramik 코팅으로 표면을 보호해주는 내구성높은 freehub body가 결합되는 구성이다.

• UD Carbon Spokes - 스포크 하나의 무게가 2.7그램에 불가한 기계식 UD Carbon Spoke는 450kgf까지 인장강도를 견딜 수 있어 현격한 무게 감량과 함께 측면 강성증대로 반응성을 향상시킬 수 있다. 고주파 진동에 대한 카본섬유의 진동흡수능력으로 노면 진동을 감소시켜 승차감을 향상시켜준다. 스포크 헤드부분의 TaperLock technology 적용으로 일반 스틸 스포크처럼 기계식으로 손쉽게 휠정렬을 위한 조절이 가능하다.
• All-Road Ready Resistance (UCI Approved) - 모든 Hunt road wheel은 모든 UCI 충격 테스트 기준들을 통과된 휠이지만 추가적으로 훨씬 높은 충격 테스트를 진행한다. 평지를 기준으로 한 UCI 충격 테스트 환경이 아닌 포트홀 타격(potholes strikes)을 보다 잘 구현한 테스트 환경에서 진행되는 추가 테스트를 통과하게 된다.

SPEC OVERVIEW

• Rims | 34.5mm 높이 28.4mm 림폭을 가진 T800 단일방향 카본섬유로 초경량의 림 적층방법이 적용되고 스포크홀 주변강화를 위해 3K 카본으로 보강된 카본림이다. HUNT 자체 엔지니어 팀이 Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)와 wind tunnel testing을 거쳐 개발한 카본림이다. 넓은 22mm 내부 림폭으로 훌륭한 타이어 지지력과 볼륨으로 탁월한 그립감과 낮은 구름저항을 실현한다. Hooked 22mm 내부 림 형상으로 25mm에서 50mm까지 클린처와 튜브리스 타이어 장착이 가능하며 H-Lock bead로 확실한 타이어 결착을 보장한다. 단방향 카본 림 마감 (UD rim finish)에 화이트 데칼이 적용된 림이다. 
• Front Hubs I 단조후 CNC가공된 6066-T6 열처리 알루미늄 합금 바디와 7075-T6 aluminium alloy axle 적용. 레이저 그래픽과 블랙 아노다이즈드 폴리싱 처리 마감 적용. Center-lock disc mount.
• Rear Hubs I 9도의 낮은 체결각도를 가지고 유지보수가 쉬운 H_Ratchet 40T dual sided ratchet rings. H_Ceramik freehub body reinforcement coating. 향상된 강직성을 위해 단조후 CNC가공된 6066-T6 열처리 알루미늄 합금 바디와 7075-T6 aluminium alloy axle 적용. 레이저 그래픽과 블랙 아노다이즈드 폴리싱 처리 마감 적용. Center-lock disc mount. 
• Spokes I 전륜 18개 (1 cross 로터 사이드, radial 드라이브 사이드) 후륜 20개 (2 cross 모든 사이드). 단방향 카본섬유(UD carbon fibre: uni-directional carbon fibre)로 제작된 UD carbon fibre aero spoked & nipple은 개당 2.7그램에 불가하며 스틸 스포크 대비 6% 정도 측면 반응성이 향상되어 페달링 파워에 대해 보다 즉각적인 반응성을 제공한다. 강한 하중에서도 뒤틀리거나 삐걱거리는 것을 방지하기 위해 Keyed hub와 spoke interface 적용되었으며 스포크간 교차체결은 없는 형태이다.  
• Nipples I TaperLock nipple로 허브에 스포크 헤드가 완벽하게 체결되는 형태이며 스포크 안정성을 증대하기 위해서 플라스틱 삽입물 (Nyloc insert)이 장착되어 있다. 휠 정렬과 교체시 스포크의 뒤틀림을 방지하기 위해서 카본림 결합부위에는 사각의 맨드럴 (Square mandrel)이 장착되어 있다. 니플은 림 내부에서 조정되는 형태로 외부에 노출되지 않는다.

The Aerodynamicist Range has been re-engineered for raw speed, with new rim profiles developed in-house through extensive CFD testing and wind tunnel testing. For riders seeking every performance advantage, the 34mm depth saves watts through efficient aerodynamics at an ultra-light weight. Aero wing spokes slice through the wind, while remaining durable and easy to service. They’re hand-laced to our H_Ratchet 40T DBL hub, for precise 9-degree engagement. Enduro™ ABEC 5 chromium steel bearings provide outstanding durability and smooth rolling, keeping you rolling faster for longer. Every detail is fine-tuned for top performance where it counts. 

TECHNOLOGY

The HUNT 34_34 Aerodynamicist UD Carbon Spoke Disc offers riders drag-reducing rim profiles in a featherweight package that does not compromise on strength and can compete with the best on mountain stages. As outlined in our transparent data report, the 34_34 Aerodynamicist offers a drag reduction of 0.18-watts compared to a well-respected and Grand Tour stage winning competitor (Reserve 34|37 TA) whilst being 217g lighter. Wind tunnel testing data reported that the aerodynamic performance of the Shimano Dura-Ace C36 demonstrated a 0.54-watt lead over all other wheelsets on test. However, the HUNT 34_34 Aerodynamicist has a 25.7% reduction in system weight (303g lighter). A wide 22mm internal rim width optimizes the tyre-to-rim with a 28mm tyre, enhancing aerodynamic performance while improving ride comfort and cornering stability. Despite being a deeper wheelset than its predecessor, the total system weight is an impressive 1175 grams, an achievement made through the utilisation of advanced carbon layup optimisation.

The wide and far more 'blunted' spoke bed area, allows wind to flow in a more predictable pattern once separating from the rim providing a smooth and aerodynamically efficient package.

• UD Carbon Spokes - Weighing just 2.7 grams each, UD Carbon Spokes can handle tightening forces of ~450kgf, allowing us to increase lateral responsiveness while significantly reducing weight across the wheelset. The high-frequency vibration absorption properties of carbon fiber further benefit ride feel by reducing road chatter. TaperLock technology allows for truing and adjustment.
• All-Road Ready Resistance (UCI Approved) - Hunt road wheels all pass UCI impact testing standards. HUNT Wheels' road wheels must also undergo significantly elevated impact testing using a sharpened anvil and higher impact energies to better replicate pothole strikes compared to the flat UCI impact test pad.

SPEC OVERVIEW

• Rims | 34.5mm deep profile with a 28.4mm external width. Lightweight rim layup strategy using T800 unidirectional carbon fibre with 3K weave re-enforced spoke holes for ultimate wheelset performance. Designed by HUNT’s in-house Engineering Team using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and then validated using wind tunnel testing. Aerodynamically optimised for a 28c – 30c tyre. The broad 22mm internal width provides good tyre support and volume for excellent grip and low rolling resistance. Hooked 22mm internal profile allows a wide range of tyres from 25mm-50mm to be fitted including tubeless or clincher tyres in-line with ETRTO guidelines. H-Lock bead seat up-kick for secure tyre fitment. UD rim finish with matte white decals.

• Spokes I UD carbon fibre aero spokes are made from uni-directional carbon fibre weighing just 2.7g per spoke and nipple. Carbon spokes offer 6% more lateral responsiveness that the steel spoked version. Which makes for a more responsive ride feel.  18 front (1 cross on rotor side, radial on drive side) 20 rear (2 cross both sides). Keyed hub and spoke interface to prevent spoke twisting and creaking under high loads. Non-interlaced 
• Nipples I TaperLock nipples secure spoke head to the hub. Using a Nyloc insert to increase spoke security.  Square mandrel mounted at the rim end to prevent spoke twisting when truing/replacing. Internal nipple for truing.

Enduro™ ABEC 5 bearings are designed specifically for bicycle applications as they offer the deepest grooves and largest balls possible in every size to increase bearing strength and durability. LLU dual full-contact seals to reduce bearing ingress from dirt and liquids for longer service life.
