Heading off-road makes great demands of your footwear. From riding to walking, to whatever standing around watching your friends fix a puncture is called, the environment is constantly changing. And then there’s the rain. Puddles, solid ground that suddenly isn’t and the constant spray of water from the front wheel all conspire to wet feet and dampen spirits.
Combining plush comfort with well-thought-out design details like a no- sew upper, gusseted tongue and a water blocking, MTB-compatible carbon composite sole, the Quoc Gran Tour All-Terrain Gravel Bike Shoe is our response to the challenges of off-road riding.
We’ve done the hard yards and ridden the long miles to get this far, and now, with your help, we can move the Gran Tourer from advanced prototype to production, and on to the feet of the gravel bike community.
Introducing the Gran Tourer
Combining all-day comfort, weather protection, durability and style is no easy challenge, but that was precisely our goal when we designed the Gran Tourer All-Terrain Gravel Bike Shoe.
To make the GT the perfect off-road cycling shoe, we knew we had to start at the sole. Working with our partners, we created a GravelGrip™ proprietary rubber compound that perfectly balances long-term durability with underfoot grip. You’ll notice the difference walking off the bike - the grip is surer and less likely to clog, even on loose shale or stodgy trail mud. But that was just the beginning. Off-road adventures are a curious mix of riding, walking, hoisting, and eating. And while we can’t help you source an extra flapjack when your bag is coming up empty, we can deliver a carbon composite midsole that strikes an ideal balance between pedal stiffness and comfort. On the bike, the Gran Tourer is engineered to transmit all of your effort through the pedals to the back wheel. Away from the bike, it’s designed to offer a forgiving flex as you track across mountains, lift the bike over a stile or two, or walk into a cafe (they might have flapjacks).
With the chassis sorted, we knew that the next challenge was every trail riders’ nemesis: the wet. Gravel riders are no strangers to the rain, but thanks to the Gran Tourer’s gusseted tongueand “no-sew” splashproof upper, fully waterproof to the top of the abrasion-resistant border, your feet will remain dry and comfy, no matter how many puddles or shallow fords you have to step through. Look closer, and you’ll even notice laser micro-pores that mimic the breathability and wicking of the skin to better balance out foot temperature. Of course, the Gran Tourer accepts traditional MTB cleats, which are usually an easy source of water ingress, but not so with the GT - the exposed cleat area is fully waterproof.
About that abrasion-resistant area that encircles the Gran Tourer - we designed it to prevent the sort of nicks, marks and scrapes that can quickly turn a good shoe bad; which leads nicely onto the lace system.
Click-clack closure systems break, but lace-ups fit all-ride long. The Gran Tourer ships with the patented Quoc Double-Lock lace system. By tightening different sections of the shoe to your liking, creating a supportive, custom fit for the day ahead is as simple as loop, knot & pull.
Available in a range of classic and less traditional colours, the Gran Tourer will also ship in two blends of our own specially formatted camouflage. Green Camo and Black Camo versions feature a Vietnamese Tigerstripe overlaid onto British terrain. The result? A wholly new, subtle yet distinctive camouflage pattern.
